When you hear a producer make rap beats chances are the producer who made them didn’t magically get good overnight. There’s alot of time and effort when they make rap beats. I know some artists that want to get into the beat game and sell beats. But sometimes its more profitable to focus on what you know instead of dragging yourself into another professional. Instead of focusing on rapping and singing.
I know that temptation all too well. When I first started I wanted to be a DJ but I was too poor I couldn’t get the equipment necessary. So being a 12 year old boy with no job I got the 1 thing that was abundant around the house. A Pencil and Paper.
Then I got interested in making beats. I listened to the old soundclick beats all the time back in 2003. Around that time I started making rap beats myself. By 2004 I saw my first beat sales. I got so involved and dedicated that I soon stopped rapping and started being a producer full time.
Basically all I’m saying is you can’t cut corners and be successful all the time. Most of the time it will ruin you. You have to sacrifice something. You can do either 1 of 2 things. Either you start dedicating yourself to beats and lay off rapping or buy beats online and sacrifice a little $20 for networking with a quality professional producer.
